to me the randomly generated encounters and world is mandatory for a roguelike, and I insist that A Robot Named Fight is the closest example I've seen of a metroidvania roguelike. You die, start from the beginning of an area and all the items you got are gone?, sounds more of a souls than a rogue, it's only missing the chance to recover your stuff. I'm having a hard time seeing the point of this new Randomizer personally, almost nothing is randomized. Unfortunately, all of those fan-made projects are leagues ahead of what people paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to have in Bloodstained. There's even a randomizer that combines Link to the Past and Super Metroid into one game, both with randomized locations and items, despite the fact that they technically aren't even the same genre. Because a Roguelike is any game that is like Rogue, which has devolved so far as to just mean that it has randomized maps and encounters and expects you to die a lot (and even the dying part is fading out of reference for the genre with common use).Īnyways, there's many randomizers for Metroidvanias out there and they're all great with almost no risk for seeds being impossible to complete.
